Where Do Film Production Vehicles Park in London?
Parking is often the hardest part of running transport for a London shoot. For most production vehicles in London, parking needs to be pre-arranged alongside your locations. The main options include a unit base, a bay suspension or a private off-street car park.
Unit bases
A unit base is a single site that holds your technical vehicles, catering and crew parking together, with shuttles running to the set.
Many boroughs in London offer designated sites for film and TV production vehicles:
Richmond charges between £1,100 and £1,700 for a council unit base, with private options at venues like Twickenham Stadium and central boroughs costing more again.
Bay suspensions and dispensations
A bay suspension reserves a physical space on the road for your vehicle. A dispensation lets you park where you normally could not, such as a single yellow line, but it does not reserve you a space. Dispensation only protects you from a fine if a space is actually free when you arrive.
Costs and notice periods vary by borough, so check with the relevant film office before you commit to a location:
- City of London: dispensations are £36 per day, rising to £40 with fewer than three working days’ notice.
- Richmond: bay suspensions at £40 per bay per day plus a £148 admin fee and yellow line dispensations at £58 per vehicle, with seven days’ notice for suspensions.
- Brent: dispensations with three days’ notice, but suspensions need at least 16 days’ notice.
- Merton: a £145 plus VAT admin fee on each parking application, with 10 working days’ notice required.

What Do London Congestion and Emissions Charges Cost a Production?
Daily driving charges add up quickly across a production fleet. Every vehicle your shoot sends into central London could be affected.
- Congestion Charge: £18 per day, applying from 7am to 6pm on weekdays and 12pm to 6pm on weekends and on bank holidays. Late payments cost £21. Electric vans on Auto Pay pay £9 per day, and electric cars pay £13.50.
- ULEZ: £12.50 per day for non-compliant cars and vans up to 3.5 tonnes across every London borough. This is separate from the Congestion Charge and unchanged in 2026.
