Car Hire Maidenhead

Fairview requires all car hire customers to be aged between 25 and 65. This is an insurance requirement rather than an arbitrary rule. 

If you sit just outside this bracket, it’s worth calling our Maidenhead branch directly, we may be able to refer your case to our insurers, though additional charges could apply.

When you arrive to collect your hire car, you’ll need three things: 

• a full UK DVLA driving licence held for at least two years
• Proof of address no older than three months, such as a utility bill or bank statement
• A credit or debit card in your name to cover the deposit.

It’s worth having these prepared in advance to make the collection process as smooth as possible.

Every car hire at Fairview includes basic protection as standard, but it’s worth being aware that the excess in the event of an accident is £3,000. 

To give yourself greater peace of mind behind the wheel, we offer a range of optional protection packages at the time of booking that can significantly reduce your exposure. 

These must be selected before your hire begins and cannot be added retrospectively.

Absolutely, we accept both debit and credit cards at our Maidenhead branch, as long as the card is registered in the name of the main hirer. 

For business customers, payment on account or by Direct Debit can also be arranged with prior agreement from our team.

In many cases, yes. If you need a car at short notice, perhaps your own vehicle has unexpectedly broken down or you have a last-minute trip to plan, give our Bray branch a call, and we’ll check what’s available. 

We’ll always do our best to get you moving as quickly as possible.

Our branch is at 274 Windsor Road, Bray, SL6 2DT. If you’re driving, we’re straightforward to reach from the M4 and well signposted from Maidenhead town centre along Windsor Road. 

If you’re coming without a car, perhaps because yours is off the road, Maidenhead railway station is your nearest option, from where you can take a local bus service towards Bray. It’s worth factoring in a little extra travel time if you’re relying on public transport.

Every car leaves our Bray branch with a full tank of fuel, and we ask that it’s returned in the same condition. If your car comes back with less than a full tank, the shortfall will be charged at the AA’s highest recorded pump price on the day of return, with a 20% administration fee added on top. To avoid any unexpected charges, we’d recommend filling up at a local petrol station before returning your car to us.

Life doesn’t always go to plan, and we get that. If your circumstances change, you’re welcome to move your car hire booking to a future date free of charge. 

If you need to cancel entirely, a fee of 30% of the total hire cost will be charged. Should you cancel within 48 hours of your scheduled collection, the full payment will be retained. 

One thing to note, during peak periods such as school holidays, bank holidays, Easter and Christmas, cancellations within seven days of collection are non-refundable and cannot be rescheduled. We’d recommend taking out independent travel insurance if you’re booking during these times.
