Van Hire Maidenhead

To hire a van with Fairview, you need to be between 25 and 65 years of age and hold a full DVLA driving licence that you’ve had for at least two years. 

Van hire age requirements are set by our insurers. If you fall outside this range, please speak to our Bray team directly to discuss your options, though additional charges may apply.

When collecting your hire van, you’ll need to bring:

• Your full DVLA driving licence
• Proof of address dated within the last three months
• A credit or debit card in the name of the main hirer for the deposit. 

Business customers should also check whether any additional documentation is required for their account type. Having everything prepared before arrival keeps things moving quickly at the branch.

All van hires include basic protection as standard. However, the default excess in the event of an accident or damage is £3,000. 

For working vehicles, particularly those being used for trade or commercial purposes, it’s worth considering one of our optional protection packages to reduce that liability. Packages must be selected at the time of booking and cannot be added once the hire period is underway.

Yes, we accept debit cards as well as credit cards at our Bray branch, provided the card is in the name of the main hirer. 

Business customers looking to pay on account or by Direct Debit can arrange this with our team before the hire, subject to prior agreement from us.

We do our best to accommodate urgent requests at our Bray branch. If you need a van at short notice, whether a job has come in unexpectedly or your own vehicle has let you down, give us a call and we’ll check what’s available.

We can’t always guarantee same-day availability across all van categories, but we’ll always do our best to find a solution.

Our branch is at 274 Windsor Road, Bray, SL6 2DT, accessible from Maidenhead town centre along Windsor Road and easily reached from junction 8/9 of the M4.

Given that most van hire customers are collecting a vehicle to carry out work or move belongings, the vast majority arrive by car or public transport. Maidenhead railway station is the closest rail option, with local bus services running towards Bray from the town centre.

Every van leaves our Bray branch with a full tank of fuel. When you return the van, it must also have a full tank, this applies regardless of how far you’ve travelled or how long the hire has been. 

If the van is returned without a full tank, you’ll be charged for the missing fuel at the AA’s highest recorded pump price on the day of return, plus a 20% administration fee. 

Diesel is the most common fuel type across our van fleet, so make sure you’re filling up at the right pump before you head back to us.

We know that work schedules and personal plans don’t always go to plan. If you need to move your van hire to a different date, you can do so free of charge. 

If you need to cancel the booking altogether, a charge of 30% of the total hire value will apply. Cancellations made within 48 hours of the scheduled collection time will result in the full payment being retained. 

During busy periods, like bank holidays, school holidays, Easter and Christmas, cancellations within seven days of collection are non-refundable and cannot be transferred to another date. If there’s any uncertainty around your plans during these periods, we’d recommend arranging independent cover.
