Yes, you have to pay the London Congestion Charge in Fairview’s rented vehicles. The ULEZ zone only applies to vehicles that do not comply with the enforced emission standards. However, this is not the case for the Congestion Zone. If you haven’t visited the area before, we are happy to help you set up a direct payment for the Congestion Charge.

Fairview has a Full-to-Full policy, meaning we request you return the vehicle with the same level of fuel as it had when your hire started. Accessible petrol stations are often hard to find in Kensington. Therefore, we recommend that you prepare to refuel before returning your vehicle.

You can take a Fairview-hired vehicle abroad (outside of mainland Great Britain) to the EU with prior approval. Please let us know if you intend to drive your hire vehicle outside of the UK, as we must arrange adequate EU insurance coverage in advance. We can also offer unlimited mileage packages. So you will not have to think about where you can and can not go!

Important Note: We do not offer overseas breakdown cover. So, you must arrange this yourself.

Yes, every vehicle hired through Fairview Vehicle Hire includes third-party liability insurance. This coverage type insures you against:

• Any defence costs, should you receive a legal notice after an accident. 
• Damage to other people’s property, including vehicles, fences, buildings and lamp posts.
• Medical expenses, legal costs, and compensation for other drivers, passengers and pedestrians.

Important Note: Third-party liability insurance does not cover theft or damage to your vehicle, injuries to yourself, or damage caused to cargo. Additionally, if you intend to use a vehicle for commercial purposes, you need business insurance. We are happy to help you arrange this.

You can use a hired vehicle for business or commercial purposes only if you have suitable insurance coverage. Standard Social and Domestic insurance will not cover you for courier work. And, if you do conduct business in a hired vehicle with the incorrect insurance policy, your insurer could void it.

To hire a vehicle in Kensington as an under-25 driver, you must:

• Hold and submit a full, valid UK photocard driving licence.
• Have had your full driving licence for at least 2 years.
• Have zero penalty points against your licence.
• Be at least 21 years of age (and able to pay a Young Driver’s Surcharge).
• Pay a higher security deposit.
• Obtain a DVLA check code.
• Provide two forms of ID to prove your address.

We may restrict you from hiring certain types of vehicles, including large commercial vehicles, premium SUVs or specialised prestige vehicles. Fortunately, small city cars, economy hatchbacks and small vans are usually available.

Several factors could make you ineligible for hiring a vehicle in Kensington, including having:

• Committed major driving offences in the past (drink/drug driving, driving without insurance, etc.)
• Received a driving ban within the last 5 years.
• More than six active penalty points.
• Been involved in two or more at-fault accidents within the previous 3 years.
• No physical driving licence, DVLA code, or proof of address.
• Insufficient funds to cover the security deposit.
• Not yet reached 21 years of age.
• Only passed your driving test less than two years before the date of your hire.
