    The shortest period you can hire a car with Fairview Vehicle Hire is by the hour or for a single day. We can cover everything from a quick trip across London to a weekend away booked as consecutive days. Collection and return happen during branch opening hours, Monday to Friday 9am to 4:30pm and Saturday 9am to midday.

  • How old do I need to be to hire a car?

    Drivers need to be between 23 and 75 years old to hire a car with Fairview, and must have held a full driving licence for at least two years. The same requirements apply to any additional driver added to the booking. Learn more about our requirements to hire a vehicle with us.

  • What is my mileage allowance?

    Standard hire includes 250 miles per day, with an additional charge of £0.40 per mile beyond that. If your trip is likely to cover more distance, an unlimited mileage package can be added to the booking for a fixed cost, which is worth considering for longer road trips or routes that are hard to predict in advance.

  • I am a non-UK resident, can I rent?

    Yes, non-UK residents can hire through Fairview. EU and EEA licences are accepted without extra paperwork. American, Australian and Canadian licences are accepted as long as they are valid, in English and include a photograph. If your licence is not in English or uses a non-Roman script, you will need an International Driving Permit or a certified translation alongside it. All international hirers must still meet the standard age and licence-holding requirements and bring a valid passport.

  • Is insurance included?

    Yes, third-party liability insurance is included as standard with our rental vehicles. This covers damage to other vehicles and property, along with associated legal costs. Additional cover is available if you want it, including a Collision Damage Waiver that reduces your excess to £500, and Premium Protection that reduces it further to £100 per incident.

  • Can I hire a van for a short-term job as well as a car?

    Yes, vans are available on exactly the same short-term basis as cars. A single day or a run of two or three days is the usual pattern for moving house, a delivery run or extra load space for a one-off task.

  • Can I rent a car for just a weekend?

    Yes, weekend hire works the same way as any other multi-day booking. Our branches are open Saturday mornings for collection and return, so weekend trips fit around normal opening hours.
